Blossom Wellness and Self-Care provides resources and information on healthy choices and taking care of yourself during and after breast cancer.
Blossom Wellness and Self Care also encourages individuals with or without breast cancer to get routine mammograms, learn your body, and ways to maintain healthy lifestyles.
Breast cancer prevention can begin with healthy habits. Oh course, some risk factors are beyond our control, however lifestyle changes can significantly lower the chances of developing breast cancer.
Here’s what you can do:
Check your Prescription: Talk with your doctor about prescription side effects and risks before prescribing a prescription. You can also read the prescription details for warnings.
No Alcohol : It’s safest not to drink alcohol. Consider the fact that even small amounts can raise the risk of breast cancer.
Maintain a Healthy Weight: Ask your doctor or health care team about your weight. If it’s healthy, work to maintain it. If you need to lose weight, seek guidance on how to do so.
Stay Physically Active: Try doing moderate fitness exercises per week. Strength training at least twice a week is also beneficial.
Breastfeed: If you have a baby, breastfeeding might help prevent breast cancer. The longer you breastfeed, the greater the protective effect, plus it’s good for your baby.
Limit Hormone Therapy After Menopause: Discuss the risks and benefits with your health care professional. Estrogen alone (for those who’ve had hysterectomies) doesn’t raise breast cancer risk.
Quit Smoking: Smoking tobacco may increase breast cancer risk. Avoid secondhand smoke exposure too.
See how even small lifestyle changes can make a big difference in reducing your risk of breast cancer.

Living healthier and maintaining well-being with and after breast cancer is essential.
Here are some steps you can take to help maintain your health and wellbeing.
1.) Understand Treatment Side Effects: Learn about the short- and long-term side effects of your specific treatment. Whether it’s surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, or anti-estrogen therapy, knowing what to expect can help you plan.
2.) Emotional Support: It can get hard, but you got this! Rely on your friends, family, caregivers, and health care professionals for emotional support. Breast cancer can be emotionally challenging, and having a strong support team is essential.
3.) Balanced Lifestyle: Prioritize your health by maintaining a balanced lifestyle. Exercise regularly, get enough sleep, and eat a healthy diet.

Philippians 4:6-7 encourages believers to present their requests to God and find peace in Him: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Nutrition: Eat a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats.
Rest/Sleep: Ensure you get enough quality rest/sleep each day to allow your body to rest and recover.
Physical Activity: Engage in regular exercise to maintain physical fitness and strength.
Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Hydration helps your body function.
Practice stress-reducing techniques such as meditating in the word of God, deep breathing, listening to instrumental music, or reading.!

Staying hydrated is imperative and especially essential during cancer treatments like chemotherapy and radiation is crucial for several reasons:
Water is essential for transporting nutrients and oxygen throughout the body, which is extremely important when the body is undergoing the stress of cancer treatments. Proper hydration helps flush toxins out of the body, which can accumulate as a result of cancer treatments.
Adequate hydration can reduce treatment side effects such as nausea, weakness, constipation, and fatigue. Just like every woman body is different, It’s important to note that every person has unique hydration needs. Some people like water and others don’t but it’s recommended to aim for at least 64 ounces of water a day, or eight cups.
These numbers can vary based on factors like age, gender, weight, and specific treatment plans. If you have a hard time drinking water try adding fruits or vegetables like lemons, berries, or cucumbers.
We encourage you to eat healthy. Healthy eating habits are practices that contribute to good nutrition and overall health. Some things you can do to eat healthier are:
Eat a Variety of Foods: Include a range of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats in your diet. If you eat meats, consider baking, boiling, or air frying instead of using oils.
Control Portion Sizes: Be mindful of portion sizes to avoid overeating. Limit Processed Foods: Reduce intake of processed foods high in sugar, salt, and unhealthy fats.
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Plan Meals: Prepare meals ahead of time to ensure you have healthy options available. Listen to Your Body: Eat when you’re hungry and stop when you’re full.
These habits can help you maintain a balanced diet and support a healthy lifestyle.
